Frequently Asked Questions
Contrast Therapy, also known as hot/cold therapy involves alternating between hot (infrared sauna) and cold therapy (ice bath). By combining two of our most powerful remedies together you will get to experience the incredible benefits of both in one session. Practiced by Scandinavian cultures and professional athletes the healing benefits of contrast therapy have been long documented and revered.

Yes! We understand that many people find it easier to relax in private, which is why our contrast therapy is only offered in private suites, fitted with an in-room shower, towels and amenities.
For those that want to experience social self care with a friend, family member or partner our saunas seat 1-3 people and we have one 4 person unit that can be requested.
We provide sauna and shower towels in each suite. You may wear whatever you are most comfortable in. Some opt to wear swimwear or athletic gear in the cold plunge as an added skin barrier.
We offer clients the option of booking a 30-60-or 75 minute session. For groups of two+ guests we recommend an 60-75 minutes to allow sufficient time to repeat the hot cold cycle.
You may not be eligible to engage in use of sauna or cold plunge if you have one or more of the following health conditions:

- Kidney disease
- High blood pressure
- Circulatory diseases
- Pacemaker or defibrillator
- Conditions or medications that increase hot-cold sensitivity
- Recent surgery and open wounds
- Pregnancy
If you are unsure about your condition please consult your Physician prior to booking.
Recent scientific studies show a regular requirement of 60 minutes of heat therapy per week and 11 minutes of combined cold therapy per week for maximum health benefits.
The frequency will depend on your personal needs and health goals. For anyone physically active engaging in hot/cold therapy a minimum of once a week can be extremely beneficial to boost performance results and faster recovery time.
Despite similar benefits an infrared sauna is different than a traditional sauna.
An infrared sauna uses advanced full spectrum infrared heaters to heat the body directly to evoke safe and natural detoxification, as opposed to traditional saunas which use steam or dry heat to heat up the room. Many people find it easier to stay longer inside an infrared sauna because the air itself doesn't get as hot, so can benefit from a longer sweat session. Infrared also has the added benefit of detoxing heavy metals from the body.
We won't lie, the water is cold, 40- 52 degrees and can be a shock if you aren't used to cold exposure but we will walk you through the breathing techniques to help enhance your endurance. Practice helps make it easier over time.
Your skin may feel tingly and pink as blood has rushed into your limbs. Post plunge you'll feel a rush of "feel good" endorphins, energy, and positive mood that you will feel the rest of the day!
Regular use of a sauna can have a similar boost on the cardiovascular system as running! As you relax in the gentle infrared heat, your body is hard at work producing sweat, pumping blood, and burning calories. This increase in your metabolism may help to burn calories.
Cold water exposure might also lower your risk for certain conditions like diabetes. It seems to increase the amount of a hormone called Adiponectin, which plays an important part in preventing insulin resistance, a state where the muscles, fat, and liver become less responsive to insulin and causes an increase in body fat.
